Family Photoshoot Locations Around Columbus

Yoli B:  North Bank Park is located on the site of the old pumphouse for the Ohio State Penitentiary. The building has a beautiful old stone facade that is the perfect backdrop for a photo shoot and is on the Scioto River with a great skyline view of the city. As a bonus, the park is also home to one of the best splash pads around Columbus, so when you are all finished the kids can hop in!

Katie G.:  The Columbus Museum of Art is a wonderful place to enjoy indoor or outdoor photographs. The outside of the building has modern architecture, cool sculptures and plenty of green space. Inside you will find a brightly lit atrium on the first floor and mezzanine level with sculptures, plants and lots of character. Professional photo shoots must be scheduled in advance and are subject to fees.

Yoli B:  If you are looking for a unique photo location, try out The Topiary Park! The park's living sculptures are sure to make your kid smile and the green lush gardens would be perfect for a family photo. If you need one more reason to use The Topiary Park, the sculptures are lit up during the holiday months!

Katie G.:  With the brick lined streets and beautiful historic buildings, German Village is the perfect spot to enjoy outdoor photos during any season. The brick and stone buildings have a lot of character making a great backdrop for pictures. The city is filled with urban gardens, ponds and lush landscaping. Afterwards grab a bite to eat at one of Columbus' best kid-friendly restaurants, Schmidt's Haus.

Kelly R.:  If you're looking for an urban feel to your photos, consider the Short North Arts District. The bustling area is filled with visually interesting elements like arches, brick, and interesting nooks and storefronts. There are nearby green spaces if you also want some photos with a natural backdrop, like Goodale Park.

Yoli B:  If you taught your kids to chant "O-H-I-O" before age 2, you may want to consider a family photo on the campus of The Ohio State University! The campus is beautiful and the location possibilities are endless. Think about pictures in front of the many statues or the stadium, of course!

Yoli B:  Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens has beautifully designed gardens, exotic plant collections, lush floral displays and unique buildings that would make a great location for your family photos! As a bonus you can stay after your photo shoot and make a day of it! Try to plan for a weekday if possible, because this is a popular family photo spot on the weekends.

A historic landmark, the Jeffrey Mansion and surrounding park offer a beautiful photo backdrop with plenty of options, including stone walls, wooded trails, green space, beautiful gardens, staircases and Alum Creek. Visit the playground before or after your session! Check ahead for availability as Jeffrey Mansion is open to the public, but can be reserved for private events.

A 13-acre plot in Whetstone Park, the Park of Roses offers a stunning option for family photos. Choose from many picturesque backdrops, including the rose gardens, water fountain, trees, paths, gazebo and stream. The roses are in full bloom mid-June through mid-September. It is a popular wedding location, so try to plan for a weekday or early morning photo session.

Katie G.:  The Gardens at Gantz is a year-round herb garden located along the historic Gantz Farm in Grove City. The gardens have been broken up into three main areas - The Garden of Yesterday, The Garden of Today and The Garden of Tomorrow. If rich landscaping and greenery is what you are looking for as the back drop for your family photos, then this is the place for you.

Katie G.:  Creekside is located in downtown Gahanna, right on the banks of Big Walnut Creek. The picturesque stone rocks, wooden boardwalk, flowing waterfalls and lush forest make this a perfect location for family photos during any season. After photos enjoy a walk along the boardwalk to shop or dine at one of the local establishments.

Katie G.:  The picturesque backdrop of this Columbus city park is the 35-foot waterfall. From the parking lot take a short hike down the steps of the boardwalk until you see the falls. There is plenty of space at the end of the boardwalk for family photos with the beautiful waterfall in the background. Best time to visit is after rain, as the falls will be in full force then.

Kelly R.:  Inniswood Metro Gardens is home to beautifully-landscaped gardens, including a rose garden and rock garden, set against a backdrop of lovely streams and woodlands.

Kelly R.:  Located at Westerville's Heritage Park, Everal Barn & Homestead is a historic site that provides a charming and rustic backdrop for photos. There is a beautiful large barn and brick farmhouse, surrounded by beautifully landscaped grounds, a pond, and mature trees. This is a popular spot for events and parties, so you might want to check ahead to confirm availability.

Kelly R.:  Hilliard's Homestead Park offers photogenic structures like a covered bridge, gazebo, train station replica with a train caboose, and a white Ohio Bicentennial barn. The beautiful natural surroundings feature paths, meadows, a pond, and trees.
