This unique bakery is worth the drive to try their vertical "spring donuts," aka kurtos, in various flavors and fillings like Nutella, peanut butter, sprinkles and Oreos. The coffee here is also exceptional, so dining in is suggested.

This shop is a trek from downtown Chicago, but the donuts themselves are worth the drive. The staff is very nice and happy to walk you through the day's flavors, which include both seasonal and staple items like apple cider, chocolate suicide, red velvet and the cinnamon coffee donut which are all fantastic.

Plus, they offer a great selection of beverages, sandwiches, muffins, and ice cream. So, there's something for everyone. If you like red velvet cake, you'll love their red velvet donut.

Dinkel's is a full service bakery and cafe with many items, but their donuts really stand out among the fritters, coffee cakes, and danishes in the pastry case. Expect both classic and seasonal donut varieties at this quaint bakery.

Yoli B said:  Run, don't walk, to the West Loop and order any bombolini (hole-less italian donut) from Bombobar! The cream filled bombolini range in flavors from vanilla to nutella and every bite is exceptional. Bombobar is located at the side window of Bar Siena and also serves coffee, gelato, and shakes but the bombolinis are definitely the star here!
